About the Lion Pride 5K

The course starts behind a Catholic school and winds through two residential neighborhoods on a single loop, returning you to where you began. The route is flat, and fast times are common here. At the finish, the school community puts out tacos from local Hispanic families, egg rolls from a Vietnamese Catholic group, and hot dogs grilled by the Knights of Columbus.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before the race at the school, near the Parish Hall. There is also pickup on race evening before the start. The start area is the rear parking lot of the school, so arrival is straightforward.

Common Questions About the Lion Pride 5K

Will I finish last at the Lion Pride 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 27:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lion Pride 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 218 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lion Pride 5K?

The 5K winner ran 16:41 while the median finisher took 27:34. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
