About the Lincoln Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K

The course heads south out of downtown Lincoln along a straight state highway, staying flat the whole way. It is terrain that suits anyone chasing a time, and the open road means you can settle into a pace without much to navigate. Several distance options mean runners at very different points in their training tend to show up on the same morning.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a venue close to the start. Personal bottles can be handed off at the operations tent before the gun goes off, and they will be waiting at water stations along the route. There is a vendor area at the finish, and lodging and dining options nearby make it workable as a weekend trip.

Common Questions About the Lincoln Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K

Will I finish last at the Lincoln Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 26.2 Miles field finished slower than 4:37:28, and the last recorded finisher came in around 6:48:08, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lincoln Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K a good first 26.2 Miles?

It is a small race (40 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 26.2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lincoln Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K?

The 26.2 Miles winner ran 2:47:47 while the median finisher took 4:37:28. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
