About the Legwork For Lungs

Legwork for Lungs raises money for lung cancer research, and the course is a straightforward run through New Brunswick. The walk option shares the morning with the run, so the start area has a range of people out for different reasons. Raffles and games are part of the day, and there is food and music at the finish.

Check-in opens at the pavilion before the run begins. Age group awards go deep into the brackets, so competitive runners have something to race for beyond the overall podium.

Common Questions About the Legwork For Lungs

Will I finish last at the Legwork For Lungs?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 26:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 41:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Legwork For Lungs a good first 5K?

It is a small race (98 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Legwork For Lungs?

The 5K winner ran 19:51 while the median finisher took 26:56. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
