The course starts in front of a steakhouse in downtown Lakeland and finishes at Lake Mirror Promenade, so you get a taste of the city center before arriving at the lakefront. The race benefits an organization that supports orphans and widows in Kenya, and each bib links to the story of a specific person the funds go toward, which gives the morning a particular weight.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available near the start and finish area. Parking is in city garages and open lots around the Lake Mirror Promenade.
