About the Laurel House 5K Walk/Run
The course starts near the post office on Main Street and finishes on East Avenue by a community center, so there is a clear sense of moving through town rather than looping back. The route runs through Newark, and the surrounding streets give it the feel of a neighborhood race rather than a park course.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Alex Eligh Community Center. A kids' superhero-themed run takes place just before the main race, so the start area tends to have a good crowd early. There are post-race awards and door prizes, and you need to stick around to be eligible for the prizes.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2026 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Laurel House 5K Walk/Run has been held every year since at least 2020. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
