About the Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk

The race runs through Lapham Peak State Forest on wide, groomed trails. The shorter course tours the middle of the park, while the longer one follows the outer perimeter. A paved accessible path handles strollers and wheelchairs, and there is a separate children's fun run that circles a pond. Free treats are waiting in the picnic shelter when you finish.

Packet pickup is at Trecker Lodge in Homestead Hollow, which is also where the morning starts. Parking requires either an annual state park vehicle sticker or a day pass purchased at the entrance. The lot fills, so follow the staff directing cars when you arrive.

Common Questions About the Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.12 Miles field finished slower than 36:18, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:15:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk a good first 3.12 Miles?

It is a small race (77 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.12 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lapham Peak Colorama Run/Walk?

The 3.12 Miles winner ran 16:48 while the median finisher took 36:18. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
