About the Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon
The course runs point-to-point on a paved trail built over a former rail line, so it is arrow-straight in long stretches with a gentle slope working in your favor the whole way. The surroundings shift between open farmland, small lakes, and a nature area, and the route passes through a handful of quiet towns before finishing in St. Joseph. Traffic is not a factor anywhere on the course.
The race is organized by a local running club, and the community presence is real: volunteers and residents show up along the route, not just at the finish. Aid stations are well-stocked. The start is at a high school in Holdingford, which gives you a proper staging area with enough space to settle in before the gun.
