The course runs out and back from a trailhead near a historic caboose at the edge of town. The route is straightforward, and walkers are part of the field alongside runners. Awards go to top finishers in both categories, so walkers compete for placement the same as runners do. Proceeds support a Marine Corps League scholarship program.
