About the KVIS Michael P. Berardino Memorial Road Race

The course starts on a village green where two roads meet near the public library, then sends runners out through neighborhood streets before hitting a trail section with roots, loose gravel, and rocks underfoot. There is one real climb on Wildwood, a hairpin turn onto a dirt driveway, and then a winding trail stretch guided by orange flags before the route drops back down to the finish.

Race-day registration is handled online from your phone rather than through paper forms. The course directions mention a canned goods collection box at the start, with donations going to a local food bank. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the course.

Common Questions About the KVIS Michael P. Berardino Memorial Road Race

Will I finish last at the KVIS Michael P. Berardino Memorial Road Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the KVIS Michael P. Berardino Memorial Road Race a good first 5K?

A field of 244 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the KVIS Michael P. Berardino Memorial Road Race?

The 5K winner ran 17:20 while the median finisher took 30:48. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
