About the Knock On Wood Trail Run/Hike - 13.1 & 10k

The course runs through Pleasant Ridge County Park, looping a trail that rolls with steady elevation changes and stays heavily shaded through most of the run. Underfoot it is natural trail the whole way. The half marathon and the shorter option share the same loop, so you cover it more than once if you go long. Directional arrows mark the route throughout.

The race is held at Camp Spearhead, a facility for kids and adults with disabilities, and the proceeds go directly to it. Packet pickup opens before the start, at the main shelter just inside the park entrance. That same shelter is where the aid station sits, stocked with water, Coke, ginger ale, cookies, pretzels, pickles, and candy. The race is cup-free, so bring your own vessel.

Common Questions About the Knock On Wood Trail Run/Hike - 13.1 & 10k

Will I finish last at the Knock On Wood Trail Run/Hike - 13.1 & 10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:26:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:14:24, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Knock On Wood Trail Run/Hike - 13.1 & 10k a good first 10K?

It is a small race (83 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Knock On Wood Trail Run/Hike - 13.1 & 10k?

The 10K winner ran 47:47 while the median finisher took 1:26:09. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
