About the Kickin’ Up The Dust 5K
The course winds through an open ranch property and out into the surrounding countryside, so the scenery is genuinely wide and open. It is a western-themed event, and the costume contest is taken seriously: bold western getups compete for a bottle of wine, and the last finisher walks away with a humor award.
Post-race keeps going after the clock stops, with drinks, live music, photos, and general ranch-style hanging around. The dress code is optional but encouraged: cowboy hats, denim, belt buckles, the works.
