About the Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

The Kewash Trail is a converted rail trail, so the surface is smooth and the grade stays gentle throughout. The course goes out and back, which means you retrace your ground and can judge your effort against where you have already been. Several distance options make it easy to bring people running at different levels.

The race starts and finishes on Main Street in the heart of downtown Washington, so the surrounding blocks are the action. Parking is mapped out in advance, with designated runner lots separate from business parking, and signs on the ground keep things clear. Food and drink trucks set up after the finish, along with games.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Will I finish last at the Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 43:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:33:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 276 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:54 while the median finisher took 43:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
