About the Kaweah Lake Bottom Trail Run
The course runs across a dry lake bed outside Three Rivers, which makes for an unusual surface underfoot. Without water, the lake bottom opens into a wide, flat expanse with views of the surrounding hills. It is a trail race in feel but the terrain is more open than wooded, and the setting is genuinely strange in the best way.
Parking is tight, so carpooling helps. There is food and music at the finish, and the race benefits a nearby retreat center.
