The course runs through Devens, a former military base turned open community, which gives the surroundings a distinct character you do not find at most road races. The route is open to runners and walkers, and the atmosphere reflects the Veterans Day timing without feeling forced about it.
Columbia Tavern hosts the post-race gathering, with Yuengling on hand. It is a real finish-line celebration, not just a table of bananas.
