About the Java Monster 5k
The course starts at Liberty Park, threads through a recreational complex, and drops into Brum Woods before looping back to the park. The woods stretch gives it some character, a break from pavement and open ground that makes the route feel longer than a neighborhood out-and-back.
The race has a costume tradition, so expect a crowd dressed up at the start. A coffee house is behind the whole thing, and that comes through in the atmosphere around the start and finish at the park.
