About the Jam On The Coast 5K

The course starts at the entrance to Frank Brown Park and winds through the park, picking up Gayle's Trails along the way. It runs in connection with Gulf Coast Jam, a music festival, so the start area has more of a concert-weekend atmosphere than a typical morning road race.

Packet pickup the evening before is at a Dave and Buster's nearby. Race-morning pickup opens early at Frank Brown Park, though the organizers push hard for runners to pick up the night before to keep things moving at the start.

Common Questions About the Jam On The Coast 5K

Will I finish last at the Jam On The Coast 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:41, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Jam On The Coast 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 381 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Jam On The Coast 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:49 while the median finisher took 34:46. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
