About the Jack Daniels Mile
This is a mile race held the same evening as a local fire company's carnival and parade, so the atmosphere is more block party than track meet. The finish line sits in front of the middle school, and awards are handed out on the building's front steps shortly after.
Race-day registration opens in the school auditorium foyer and closes before the gun goes off, so there is time to sort yourself out on arrival. Parking gets tight because the carnival draws its own crowd, and the organizers suggest getting there early to avoid the congestion.
