About the Irish American 5 & 10k Road Race

The course winds through the Edgeworth neighborhood, tracing a route that runs close to the Malden-Medford border. It is mostly flat, well-marked, and staffed by volunteers and police keeping runners on course. The surroundings are residential, the kind of streets where people step out to watch from their yards.

This is a Labor Day race with a full after-party: live music, food, raffles, and what the organizers describe as a few Irish surprises. Teams get a tent and snacks. A portion of proceeds goes to a local shelter serving adults experiencing homelessness.
