The course starts near the keyhole area at Ala Moana and loops out through Magic Island, with the ocean close the whole way. Diamond Head sits on the horizon as the sun comes up, and the water is close enough that you can hear it. The surroundings are open and the footing is smooth, with Waikiki visible across the water.
