About the I’m Here for the Food (Pantry) 5k

The course runs through Busse Woods, a forest preserve on the edge of Elk Grove Village. The terrain is flat and the surroundings are wooded, which keeps things shaded even on a warm morning. The race benefits a church food pantry, and there is a donation box on site if you want to bring canned goods.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup also available at the start. After the finish, there is a cookout and a DJ. There are also children's activities and an untimed kids' race for the youngest members of any group that shows up together.
