About the HTC Winter Series Barkhamsted 8.5/17 mile
The course runs out along East River Road beside the Farmington River, turns through Riverton center, and comes back on West River Road. It is entirely on pavement, with rolling hills the whole way. Runners choosing the longer option do a second lap, stopping to give their name at the finish table after each one.
The race starts at Matthies Grove in People's State Forest. Hand timing keeps things simple, and results go up on the race registration site afterward. Registration is free, though the organizers welcome a donation to keep the series going.
