About the HOWL-O-WEEN Hairy and Scary Fest Zombie Run 5k
This is a Halloween-themed zombie run that benefits a dog rescue organization. The course alternates between stretches where zombies are active and stretches where you are safe, and runners start wearing flag belts, the same way flag football works. Zombies try to strip your flags as you go. Finish with a flag still attached and you survive; lose them all and you cross as one of the undead.
Dogs are welcome at the broader event but are kept off the zombie course itself, for the safety of both runners and animals. The morning runs into a full festival afterward, with a pet adoption fair and costume contests for dogs and dog-owner pairs. It is a busy, outdoor, costume-friendly morning built around the rescue mission.
