About the Hot Hatch Chile Run, Walk, & Roll 10K & 5K, 1M Fun Run

The Hot Hatch Chile Run is organized by a foundation that supports spinal cord injured and disabled individuals, and that mission shows up in the race itself: hand-cyclists compete alongside runners and walkers, with their own award categories for both distances. Packet pickup happens at a local running store on Southlake Boulevard in the days before the race, with a race-morning option as well.

Will I finish last at the Hot Hatch Chile Run, Walk, & Roll 10K & 5K, 1M Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:17, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:17:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hot Hatch Chile Run, Walk, & Roll 10K & 5K, 1M Fun Run a good first 5K?

How competitive is the Hot Hatch Chile Run, Walk, & Roll 10K & 5K, 1M Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:44 while the median finisher took 36:17. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
