About the Hope for the Holiday Half Marathon and 5K in Memory of Garrett Yeager

The race starts in a residential neighborhood and takes different paths depending on which distance you are running. The longer course winds through a college campus, picks up a short trail section, then follows country roads back out to a main highway before returning to where you started. It is a memorial race, held to honor a local man, with proceeds going to a faith-based program for women in recovery.

Bibs are picked up the morning of the race. At the finish, return your shoe tag to the timer bins; your bib is yours to keep or toss.

Common Questions About the Hope for the Holiday Half Marathon and 5K in Memory of Garrett Yeager

Will I finish last at the Hope for the Holiday Half Marathon and 5K in Memory of Garrett Yeager?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 57:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hope for the Holiday Half Marathon and 5K in Memory of Garrett Yeager a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (89 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hope for the Holiday Half Marathon and 5K in Memory of Garrett Yeager?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:58 while the median finisher took 34:37. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
