About the Hope Children's Fund 22nd Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk

The course runs along the North Shore Rail Trail, starting and finishing at Saint Anselm's Episcopal Church. Rail trail pavement means flat, open running with room to spread out, and the out-and-back shape makes it easy to spot other runners heading the opposite direction. The race benefits an orphanage in Meru, Kenya, and that context gives the morning a purpose beyond the finish line.

Race-morning check-in is available alongside pre-registration pickup, so you do not need to come the day before. After the run, there are family activities on the church grounds, including a chalk art contest and a costume contest, which means the area stays lively well past the finish.

Common Questions About the Hope Children's Fund 22nd Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Hope Children's Fund 22nd Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 41:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hope Children's Fund 22nd Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk a good first 5K?

It is a small race (13 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hope Children's Fund 22nd Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk?

The 5K winner ran 18:42 while the median finisher took 41:27. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
