About the Hoofin' It For Hunger

The course heads out of town on surface roads before reaching a pond, which the longer route loops around before doubling back the way it came. The shorter distance starts out at the pond and runs into town from there. The surroundings open up once you leave downtown Dillon, with wide views of the surrounding landscape.

Race morning registration handles packet pickup, so there is no separate trip the day before. Pick up your bib at the start and you are ready to go.

Common Questions About the Hoofin' It For Hunger

Will I finish last at the Hoofin' It For Hunger?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 41:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hoofin' It For Hunger a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (17 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hoofin' It For Hunger?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 27:51 while the median finisher took 41:02. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
