The race starts at Goleta Beach Park, right on the coast. The course mixes surfaces: an unpaved path heads out toward the turnaround, and a paved path brings you back. The half and the longer of the shorter distances both use this out-and-back layout, so you get a feel for both textures. The shorter distances stay on pavement throughout.
