About the Hit the Trail Vermont 2026
The course runs on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, a converted rail corridor that keeps things flat and mostly straight. The surface underfoot is what you'd expect from a former rail bed, and the surroundings are rural Vermont, open and quiet. Cyclists head out in two different directions while runners and walkers share the trail for the timed run.
The event raises money for healthy aging programs in central Vermont, covering things like grocery access, emergency fuel assistance, and free exercise classes for older neighbors. It has the feel of a community fundraiser built around a morning outside rather than a race first.
