The course starts at a church and winds through a municipal park, so the surroundings shift from a parking-lot gathering spot into open park space fairly quickly. The terrain reads as a neighborhood run, nothing technical, with the park portion giving the route a bit of breathing room before looping back.
The church serves as the start area, which means restrooms and shelter are close at hand before the gun. Proceeds from the race go toward a local Thanksgiving outreach program, so there is a tangible reason behind the entry fee beyond the run itself.
