About the Hiawassee Half Marathon & 5K

The race starts and finishes at the town square in Hiawassee, and the courses work through mountain roads with rolling terrain. The half marathon makes a full loop around Lake Chatuge, so the water stays in view for much of the run. The 5K shares those lakeside views on a shorter route. Roads are paved and kept up well, but expect genuine hills throughout.

Net proceeds from the race go toward a free shuttle service for Appalachian Trail hikers in the area, so the entry fee is doing something local beyond the race itself.
