About the Heroes Walk, 5K & 10k Fun Run
The route runs through Riverfront Park on paved paths, so the surface is smooth and the surroundings are open. The pace is set by the walkers and families around you, and strollers, wagons and bikes are all part of the scene. The event is built around veterans and the people who support them.
A community resource fair runs most of the morning alongside the walk, with organizations there to connect veterans and families to services. Opening and closing ceremonies bracket the walk itself, making the middle of the day feel more like a gathering than a race finish.
