About the Heroes and Villains Half Marathon - Austin
The course runs around Lake Pflugerville Park, so expect a lakeside loop with a good view of the water for most of the route. The terrain is paved and mostly flat, which means the half marathon distance is about grinding it out rather than climbing. Costumes are a real part of the morning, and a good number of runners show up dressed as heroes or villains.
Packet pickup opens early on race morning at the venue, wrapping up shortly before the start. There is a costume contest before the first wave goes off, and a DJ runs the whole event from start through the post-race gathering. Snacks and refreshments are out at the Race Rally Tent after you finish.
