The race starts and finishes at an aquatic and fitness center on the edge of Manassas, and the course runs along a stretch of road that gets closed to traffic for the morning. The mile option is untimed, so it draws people who just want to move, while the longer distance has a generous time limit. Portions of the proceeds go to a local organization that supports elderly veterans.
Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at the same fitness center where the race is held, not at a local running store. On race morning, the road along the course closes before the first wave goes off, so the directions in change depending on which way you come from. The building stays open before and after the race if you need a warm place to wait.
