About the Hero 5k Walk / Run

The route starts at a downtown street corner, heads north, then winds through a mall parking area before looping back to where it began. The race was founded to honor a soldier killed overseas and a local healthcare worker who pushed runners to do their best. Both dedications give the morning a specific gravity that most local road races do not carry.

Packet pickup runs at the El Dorado Conference Center the afternoon before, with an option to pick up at the start line on race morning. Parking is available near the MAD Amphitheater at East Locust and South Hill Street, with additional spots alongside the SouthArk Community College Library and at the Health Science Center.
