About the Hector Harvest 5K Walk/Run

The course winds through vineyard rows and farm trails on a hillside above Seneca Lake, with the lake visible through the vines at points along the way. It is hilly terrain underfoot, the kind of dirt-path running you expect from working agricultural land. The race starts and finishes at a vineyard, and the surroundings feel genuinely rural.

Post-race activities and awards take place at the same vineyard venue where the race ends, so there is no need to pack up and drive somewhere else. The finish area has a real gathering feel to it, with the vineyard property as a backdrop.

Common Questions About the Hector Harvest 5K Walk/Run

Will I finish last at the Hector Harvest 5K Walk/Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:32, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hector Harvest 5K Walk/Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (86 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hector Harvest 5K Walk/Run?

The 5K winner ran 19:16 while the median finisher took 38:32. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
