About the Hecker Tiki Trot 5K
The course runs on a quiet country road through open farmland, and the whole thing happens after dark. Tiki torches line both sides of the road for the full route, so the path is lit by open flame the entire way. It is a genuinely unusual setting for a road race, and the countryside around Hecker is flat and open enough that you can see the torches stretching ahead.
Packet pickup is at the Hecker Community Center grounds, next to the ball diamond, on race day itself. The race benefits a local Catholic church, so the crowd at the start tends to lean toward neighbors and regulars rather than out-of-town competitors.
