The race starts and finishes at a street corner in Effingham, with a separate shorter fun run option alongside the main distance. Proceeds go toward sending local kids to Rock Springs camp, so the cause is woven into the morning. Cash prizes go to the top finishers in both events, which gives the field a little extra edge.
Packet pickup happens at Effingham Park the evening before the race, near the livestock barns. A tent with a banner marks the spot. The start line is right at the corner of William and the cross street the organizers have marked.
