Brookneal, VA
The course winds around a golf course, so the terrain is open and well-maintained, with the kind of gentle, rolling ground you find on fairways. It runs on Thanksgiving morning, which gives it a before-the-feast feeling that draws people out whether they are there to push the pace or just move their legs a little.
