About the Harvest Day 5K and Fun Run

The course starts and finishes at Headland High School and is mostly flat throughout. It is part of a larger Harvest Festival happening on the town square, so there is a lively backdrop to the morning even before the run begins. Awards go to top overall finishers and to winners across several age categories, inspired by a new mural in town.

Race-day check-in opens at the high school before the start. The festival's street dance and other activities run on the square the day before and continue after the run, so it is easy to make a full weekend of it in Headland.

Common Questions About the Harvest Day 5K and Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Harvest Day 5K and Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Harvest Day 5K and Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (60 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Harvest Day 5K and Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 19:12 while the median finisher took 35:08. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
