About the Harmon Field Half Marathon & Morris Fun Run

The course heads out through Polk County's horse country and comes back the same way, so you see the same scenery twice but from opposite directions. The terrain is scenic rather than technical, rolling through an area known for equestrian estates and open countryside. A short fun run option covers Harmon Field itself, which is a park that was recently rebuilt after storm damage.

Packet pickup is race morning at the Harmon Field concession stand, which keeps things simple. Parking is spread across the equestrian side of the park and a paved lot behind the arts and crafts center nearby; signs point you in. Portable restrooms are stationed at the start area and at one spot out on the course, which you pass on the way out and again on the return.

Common Questions About the Harmon Field Half Marathon & Morris Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Harmon Field Half Marathon & Morris Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:15:39, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:52:38, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Harmon Field Half Marathon & Morris Fun Run a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (107 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Harmon Field Half Marathon & Morris Fun Run?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:17:07 while the median finisher took 2:15:39. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
