About the 5th Annual Halfscom Half Marathon on Bascom Hill
The entire course is a loop on Bascom Hill, an oval sidewalk runners lap repeatedly to cover the half marathon distance. It racks up a serious amount of climbing, since every loop rolls the same incline back under your feet again and again. Costumes are encouraged, so expect a crowd in full dress. The race is untimed and free to enter.
An aid station at the top of the hill stocks water, snacks, and what the organizers call moral support. There are solo and team divisions, so some runners are doing it together as a group effort. It is put on by a local running community group, and that crowd tends to show up loud.
