Racing in Naples means you are almost certainly running flat and fast, with the Gulf never far from view. The same waterfront miles that locals log along Gulf Shore Boulevard and past the Naples Pier show up in the race calendar here - open sky, salt air, and that particular southwest Florida light that makes a hard effort feel a little more bearable.
The heat is real and locals know it. The running community here has built a year-round habit of early starts and shaded paths rather than waiting for cool weather that rarely comes. If you are visiting for a race, plan your warm-up accordingly and lean into it - the waterfront breezes along the Moorings and through Pelican Bay are part of what makes this place its own thing.
By the numbers
The Biggest and Longest-Running
The Naples races that stand out on the numbers: the biggest field, and the longest unbroken run of editions.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 25, 2026.
Common Questions About Running a Half Marathon in Naples
Am I going to be the slowest person at a Naples half marathon?
Across the 19 RunSignup half marathon editions with published results on RunSesh, walkers and charity entrants included, the median finisher crossed in 2:16:37. The median last finisher came in at 2:43:01. These are genuinely small fields - the median field size is 3 - so you will not be lost in a crowd either way, and the gap between first and last is a realistic range to orient yourself within.
When is the best time of year to find a half marathon in Naples?
Fall, covering September through November, is the busiest stretch with 11 races. August alone has 4 on the calendar, making it the single busiest month. January is the quietest, with just 1 race. The calendar runs year-round, which reflects how Naples runners tend to adapt to the heat rather than hibernate through it.
Are these good races for a first-time half marathoner?
The fields are small - the median is 3 finishers per half marathon edition - so you will not have a crowd carrying you through. That cuts both ways: it is an intimate, low-pressure environment, but you should be self-sufficient and comfortable running without much external pace guidance. The flat Naples terrain is genuinely beginner-friendly in terms of elevation, but the heat demands honest preparation.
Which races in Naples offer the half marathon alongside other distances?
Nearly every race here is a multi-distance event. The Eagle, Ninja, Medal Madness, and Haunted series each pair the half marathon with a 5K and 10K on the same day, so friends or family running different distances can show up together. Two races on the calendar also include a full marathon option.
