About the 16th Annual Hair of the Dog 5K, 1 Mile Walk and 30th Annual Leo Brady Ocean Plunge
The run and walk course winds through the streets of Bethany Beach and finishes on the boardwalk with the Atlantic Ocean in front of you. Shortly after, participants who signed up for the plunge wade into that same ocean. It is a New Year's Day event, so the air is cold, the water is colder, and the crowd is the kind that finds both things funny.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon of New Year's Eve at Mangos, a local spot in town that also hosts the post-race celebration, which includes beer for those over legal drinking age, snacks, and a chili cook-off with entries from several local restaurants. Dogs are welcome on the walk portion, and the plunge requires a wristband to participate.
