About the Hachie 50 Marathon, Ultra and Relay

The course runs through Getzendaner Park, which sits mostly closed to traffic on race day. The surface is almost entirely concrete sidewalk, with a short stretch of dirt and gravel mixed in. It is an out-and-back route, flat and tree-lined, and the park setting keeps things quiet enough that you can hear your own footfall. The marathon course is Boston-qualifier certified.

Pacers are allowed for the final lap, though they need to bring their own food and water and stay off the aid stations. The park address is on South Grand Avenue, so navigation is straightforward. There is no race-day registration, and the online window closes a couple of days before the event.

Common Questions About the Hachie 50 Marathon, Ultra and Relay

Will I finish last at the Hachie 50 Marathon, Ultra and Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 20 Miles field finished slower than 2:57:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:57:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hachie 50 Marathon, Ultra and Relay a good first 20 Miles?

It is a small race (1 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 20 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hachie 50 Marathon, Ultra and Relay?

The 20 Miles winner ran 2:57:59 while the median finisher took 2:57:59. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
