About the Habitat of Greater Newark: 5th Annual Salute to Our Veterans 5K
The course runs out of Pier A Park along Sinatra Drive, right on the Hudson waterfront. It is a flat route with open water views, and the setting makes it feel more like a riverside morning run than a road race. The event benefits Habitat's work with veterans and local families, so there is a clear sense of purpose behind it.
After the race, a Community Resource Village sets up nearby with local nonprofits, veteran services, health and wellness booths, and financial education resources. It is worth staying for if any of that is relevant to you or someone you came with. Check-in opens well before the start, so arriving early is easy.
