About the GWTC 30K/15K

The course runs through plantation lands north of Tallahassee, mostly on hard-packed red clay roads with paved stretches at the start and finish. It has a rural, open feel, the kind of terrain that rewards trail-adjacent runners without demanding trail shoes. The routes are USATF certified.

The start is near a country store on Centerville Road, which sets the tone for the morning. Parking and gathering happen in a genuinely rural spot, well outside the city, so plan your drive accordingly.

Common Questions About the GWTC 30K/15K

Will I finish last at the GWTC 30K/15K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 15K field finished slower than 1:28:17, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:26:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the GWTC 30K/15K a good first 15K?

It is a small race (135 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 15K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the GWTC 30K/15K?

The 15K winner ran 51:48 while the median finisher took 1:28:17. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
