The course follows a paved former railroad corridor with the Guyandotte River running alongside the whole way. The path is flat and smooth, the river is close enough to hear, and depending on which distance you choose, the route goes through an old railroad tunnel. That stretch inside the tunnel is genuinely worth the trip out.
Post-race snacks are set out at the finish. The start is in Hanover, and the railroad trail keeps you away from traffic the entire way.
