The course runs along the Greenbrier River Trail, a converted rail corridor that follows the river through Pocahontas County. The surface is packed gravel, the grade is gentle throughout, and the surroundings are heavily wooded with the river beside you for much of the route. It is a quiet stretch of country, with little traffic and few intersections to break the rhythm.
