About the Green Jays & Ghouls 1 Mile Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Costume Run
The race runs on the Jackson State Community College campus, on a certified course that is largely flat and built for speed. It is a one-mile race in every direction, so there is no pacing mystery: you go hard from the gun. Waves are split by age group, with costume runners getting their own start alongside the youngest participants. Age group awards go several places deep in each wave.
Race day registration is handled by QR code at the registration table, so arrive with a phone or register ahead of time. Cash is not accepted on race day. The whole thing benefits the campus track and field club, so the volunteers and the energy around the start line tend to reflect that.
