About the Great Sandbagger 8K
The Great Sandbagger 8K runs out and back from the Katy Trailhead in McBaine, so the course is the same in both directions. The gimmick is the point: you predict your finishing time before the start, runners head out in sequence based on those guesses, and whoever crosses first wins. The trail surface keeps things honest even when the competitors do not.
Registration is online only, no exceptions on race morning. You also need to submit your predicted finishing time before the start, so plan to arrive with enough lead time to sort that out. The Columbia Track Club membership gets you free entry, so it is worth knowing before you pay the standard fee.
